What do you pack into your bag? Show us.

People on the internet love to talk about the gear that they own, or what they bring on a photo shoot or while they are out shooting for themselves.

When I am out shooting for myself, I don't really know what I'll be photographing, so I like to be prepared for anything that I might come across.

Obviously my camera is the first thing that I will pack, so the Canon EOS 40D goes into the bag. Attached to my camera is my favorite walking around lens, my Tamaron 20-40mm f2.7-3.5. It's wide enough for some landscapes with the capability to zoom in if necessary. Inside my bag sits my Sigma 10-20mm, a Canon 70-200mm, and my Sigma 105 mm Macro. That's quite a few lenses, and I don't recommend that anyone bring that much gear unless they have no idea what they want to do when they walk out that door. All of that gear is fairly heavy and can put quite the strain on your shoulder or back.

Apart from my camera and lenses, a few other things go into the bag as well. I always bring at least one flash with me, so that means my off camera flash cable gets put into the bag as well. Let's not forget to throw in a few flash modifiers as well: gels, filters, filter holder, any my trusty DIY mini softbox.

Since we're talking about accessories now let not forget about the usual suspects: batteries, lens wipes, extra memory cards, lens caps, effect filters, and some water. If it is close to nighttime or I want to take any long exposure photography, my tripod gets put into the car, but I don't remove it unless I am absolutely sure that I'll need it.

Why do I bring some much gear? Well, as I stated earlier in this post, you don't always know what will happen when you're out shooting. You may go out with the intent on shooting some landscapes but find yourself capturing some candid portraits. Being prepared for any situation isn't just a good motto for the Scouts, but it's also a good motto for photography.

Now that I've shared some of what's in my bag, show me what is in yours.
