• The K4L functions as a Laptop/Camera and Travel backpack for the ultimate in professional convertibility, without looking like a conventional camera bag for security reasons.

• Heavily-padded laptop compartment fits most 17" wide screens with water-repellent zipper for added safety against the elements.

• Designed with two main compartments. Upper section is for day gear stuff and lower compartment to store your camera gear.

• Camera compartment houses a PRO DSLR body with up to 4 1/2" lens attached, plus 3-4 additional lenses and a flash. The divider between the top and bottom areas is removable to offer one large compartment for general use.

• Tripod carrying system which folds down from the center of the backpack to securely hold a tripod, or monopod.

• A removable seams sealed rain cover for maximum protection (packed into mesh holder with an Easy-Lock belt loop that can be used as a water bottle holder).

• Ergonomically designed shoulder straps with ventilated back support system, adjustable padded waist-belt and height adjustable chest straps, ensuring that its user can wear it comfortable all day long.

• Side and front pockets for extra accessories as well as a water-bottle pocket that store away.

I am a freelancer TV cameraman/final cut editor. I work in London. One job I do, amongst others, is to shoot, edit and send news stories via internet/FTP to European and South American TVs. Very often I need to edit and send stories from a coffee place, such as Starbucks. So, I need to carry my laptop with me. I have a broadcast camera and a 17" macbook pro. I also need to carry, obviously, sound equipment, batteries etc. I spent two all days researching backpacks. I needed a backpack that would protect my expensive laptop ( over £2000 ) and also have organized compartments for the rest of my equipment. So, I was looking for a photographer backpack. Most of them have vertical compartments, what was no good for me. The K4L is one of the few that does have organized compartments in the horizontal, so I can carry microphones, batteries etc without a problem . After two days and probably seeing all good professional backpacks, I was in doubt between the K4L and Brenthaven pro 15/17". Brenthaven offers, by far, the best protection for my mac, but it doesn't have compartments for photographic equipment ( what I was planning to use mainly for sound equipment) and doesn't have a raincover. Living in London, a raincover is essential and, doing news, I really needed to have a backpack organized in compartments that would give me quick access to equipment . I chose and bought a K4L. I am very happy with it but, as I read that you welcome feedbacks. Let's go then:

  1. As I said, I spent two days researching backpacks and end up choosing the K4L. That tells something about its quality.
  2. The handle in the top could be padded and bigger. Not much room there for my hands.
  3. What I really didn't like is the computer compartment. It says in the ad that is heavily padded. Not really. Not even close to the Brenthaven one. I think you should work on this aspect of the fantastic K4L because, you see, this backpack will be used only by photographers or cameramen who, more often than not, work with macintosh. Macs are expensive computers. I would like to have had more protection for my macintosh, even if I had to pay more for a backpack. Anyway, it's a great backpack and the only match I found for it was the Brenthaven pro , which wasn't so "complete" as the K4L. Many congratulations!!! Umberto Aguiar
